Sited at 889 Pacific Street in Vancouver, CANADA

Drawings and concept by Lyse Lemieux. Fabrication and installation by Mosaika Art and Design , Montréal,CA

A series of nine mosaics made of tumbled and un-tumbled smalti glass ranging in height from range from 19.48’ to 23.42’ in height and 6.62’ to 7.92’ in width. Commissioned by Grosvenor Americas for the City of Vancouver’s Public Art Program. PERSONNAGES was created for the nine faces of the five columns that make up the frontage of the residential tower at 889 Pacific Street in Vancouver, Canada. All figures were drawn and designed by Lyse Lemieux and fabricated by Mosaika artisans under the direction of Saskia Siebrand. PERSONNAGES was created to be viewed both from the inside and the outside of this residential tower’s frontage - - connected to and in conversation with the life inside the lobby and the activity on the street and, in the community. Each figure is a considered presence - formidable yet not intimidating, abstract yet recognizable - subscribing to no other narrative but the one passers-by and visitors choose to give them.. PERSONNAGES bear witness to our unremarkable quotidian and our extraordinary shared existence.
