LYSE LEMIEUX: On Balance
Lalani Jennings Contemporary
NOVEMBER 3 - DECEMBER 23, 2022
GUELPH, ONT. CA
All things considered it’s only lately that that I understood how small and asymmetrical my world had become during those pandemic years - - Like an invisible thread had unevenly stitched time into a small cocoon and prevented me from reaching out or moving forward. Sisyphus - - Pushing the boulder uphill only to watch it roll down again. In many ways our lives have opened up but our world continues to desperately be in need of mending. Some of the works in the gallery were originally made as ink drawings on paper. Revisiting them I wanted to remember but this time with paint and, on a surface where all edges must be considered, the comfort and satisfaction of stringing a line onto a simple and unobstructed ground.
