FAMILY: FIVE FIGURES FOR A TRIANGLE

Located at 4599 Cambie Street and across from Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, Canada this public artwork was commissioned in 2015 by the Intergulf Development Group for the City of Vancouver’s Public Art Program and was installed by Carvel Creative, September 29, 2020. The artwork sits in a residential neighbourhood where families from all cultural backgrounds have lived, worked and played for generations and addresses and engages with the neighbourhood’s history of domesticity. Ranging from 3’ to 8’ in height all of the figures are anchored into the concrete plaza area. Each figure has a steel and aluminum armatures with dye sublimated surfaces. All figures were fabricated by Carvel Creative in Calgary with sublimated surfaces by Artisan/Penway in Washington state. Family; Five Figures for a Triangle seeks to engage physically and emotionally with the buildings residents and, with the community.
